About this place
Located along the approaches to Kappabashi Dougu Street, Tagokoro Cafe doubles as a greengrocer and community cafe, its storefront neatly arranged with seasonal vegetables. Lunch drawcards include the colorful 10-variety salad plate, piled high with ingredients like kale, avocado, quinoa, and tomatoes. Though vegetable-focused, the portions are hearty, and the deep-dish vegetable quiche provides another satisfying option for lunch or an afternoon bite.
Beyond its Western cafe fare, the kitchen also prepares Japanese sets and regional specialties with an international touch. The Daichi no Megumi Gozen centers on viscous, flavorful tororo—grated mountain yam—served with a choice of side dishes such as mushroom-stuffed rolled omelette or natural straw-fermented natto. The lineup changes through the week, featuring items like a Lao-style larb set accented with citrus and herbs alongside rotating curry plates.
The beverage selection is equally deliberate, featuring Irodori, a house tea blend developed with y's tea that layers notes of lemon, ginger, and rose. Spicy house-made ginger drinks, Nikko Iroha craft beers, and rich gateau chocolat make the space handy for everything from a post-shopping tea break to a light daytime drink. With counter seating and accessible Wi-Fi, it offers an easy, unhurried stop for solo visitors.
